Burning – recycling of energy:

The platforms contain approximately 35 %- by weight of combustible material (polyester and vinyl ester). As a consequence hereof, discarded products have a significant energy contribution during combustion. During combustion, carbon dioxide and water vapor will be developed. No hazardous environmental toxics are developed.

The materials used are very difficult to degrade in nature. Several methods exist for recycling of the material. Often milled scarp is used in other products. Experience from recycling of wind turbine blades has been under development for a number of decades, and useful methods exist today. The same methods apply for recycling of composite platforms.
